Minister of Youth and FA President Discuss Yemeni Football Situation and Solutions for Aden Clubs
During the meeting, they communicated with the Governor of Aden, Mr. Abdulrahman Sheikh, and discussed aspects related to the issue of Aden clubs, including potential scenarios for reconciliation and reaching appropriate solutions.
In a statement to the Yemeni FA Media Committee, Minister Al-Bakri explained that the meeting addressed the broader condition of Yemeni sports, including matters related to the national league, the Republic Cup, sports facilities, and preparations for the افتتاح (opening) of new stadiums.
He noted that there is a direction within the Football Association to incorporate additional venues such as Ibb Stadium, Al-Wahda Stadium in Abyan, the Revolution Sports City Stadium in Sana’a, and May 22 Stadium in Aden.
He also stated that he discussed with the FA President and the Governor of Aden mechanisms to resolve the issues facing Aden clubs, emphasizing rapprochement and adherence to regulations. He reassured the sports community that matters are moving toward resolution.
The minister expressed appreciati on for the FA’s efforts in activating domestic and international football activities and ensuring regular participation of national teams in international competitions—most notably the ongoing preparations of the senior national team for the final round of Asian Cup qualification, where Yemen aims to secure a spot in the finals, as well as the preparations of the youth national team for the AFC finals scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia next May.
