Al-Wehda and Samoon Defeat Fahman and Al-Tadamon in Yemeni League
Al-Wehda Sanaa defeated Fahman Abyan 3–1 on Wednesday in a match held at Seiyun Olympic Stadium in Hadramout, eastern Yemen, as part of the Yemeni First Division League.
Wajdi Abdullah scored Fahman’s only goal from the penalty spot in the 41st minute. Just one minute into the second half, Mohammed Mahyoub Naji equalized for Al-Wehda, before his teammate Mohammed Hashem added the second goal in the 66th minute. Mohammed Al-Absi sealed the victory with a third goal in the 90th minute.
With the result, Al-Wehda now has six points from three matches, while Fahman remains on three points from two games.
In Sanaa, Samoon of Al-Shihr on the Hadramout coast secured a 1–0 win over neighbors Al-Tadamon of Mukalla in their Group A clash at Al-Wehda Club Stadium. The victory earned Samoon their first three points of the tournament, while Al-Tadamon is still without a point.
The Yemeni league is being played in two groups: Group A matches are hosted in Sanaa, while Group B games take place in Hadramout. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals to compete for the championship title.
Meanwhile, Al-Saqr and their Taiz neighbors Al-Tali’ah missed the first and second rounds of the competition after refusing to participate in protest against the way the Yemeni Football Association is managing the sport.
